How
did you get into stone carving?
My
early schooling prepared me for an editorial career. When I
joined the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in 1986.
There,
I met some resistance to my relative inexperience (none)
in stone carving, but they finally took pity on me.
Since
then, I've also studied at the Building Crafts Training College,
London where I received City & Guilds certification in stone
masonry.
Where do I sign up for the cathedral apprenticeship program in
New York?
Unfortunately,
the apprenticeship program ended and the Cathedral stoneyard shut
its doors in 1991. (That's when I returned to school and took
my Fine Arts/illustration degree at School of Visual Arts in New
York.)
How
did the Web site come about?
It
was at the suggestion of my wife Margaret
that I began an online newsletter for an audience who, like us,
share a deep interest in the Middle Ages. Look around and see
